このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、池田省吾と相場るい児による二人展を開催いたします。
池田省吾は、鹿児島県・種子島の豊かな自然の中で作陶を行い、種子島の原土を用いた力強い造形と、躍動感あふれる絵付けによって独自の世界を築いてきました。吊り柿や松などの古典的な文様に、ユーモアあふれる現代的なモチーフを融合させた作品は、伝統と遊び心が共存する魅力に満ちています。織部、唐津、焼締め、粉引など多様な技法を自在に取り入れながら、踊るように器面を覆う大胆な絵付けによって、圧倒的な存在感を放つ作品を生み出しています。
一方、愛知県瀬戸市を拠点に制作を続ける相場るい児は、鬼や動物、妖怪たちを主人公に、どこか懐かしくも不思議な物語世界を緻密な造形によって紡ぎ出しています。からくりや細密技法を取り入れながら、日本の伝統的な人形に着想を得た創作人形や、明治以降失われつつある細密工芸の精神を陶による根付や器へと昇華し、幻想とユーモアが交錯する独自の世界観を築いています。
作風は異なりながらも、二人に共通するのは、日本的な人物や動物、そして民間に息づく物語やイメージを起点とし、それらを独自の造形言語へと再構築している点です。本展では、池田が描き出す自由闊達な生命の息吹と、相場が生み出す幻想的な住人たちが響き合い、豊かな物語性に満ちた空間を創出します。伝統的な陶芸の精神をそれぞれに受け継ぎながら、異なる感性が交わり、響き合うことで生まれる唯一無二の世界を、ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
This exhibition at Tosei Kyoto Gallery presents a two-person show by Shogo Ikeda and Ruiji Aiba.
Shogo Ikeda creates his works in the rich natural environment of Tanegashima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture. Working with local clay from the island, he has developed a distinctive practice characterized by powerful forms and dynamic painted decoration. By combining traditional motifs such as hanging persimmons and pine trees with playful, contemporary imagery, his works embody a harmonious blend of tradition and imagination. Drawing on a wide range of techniques including Oribe, Karatsu, wood-firing, and kohiki, he produces pieces with bold, animated brushwork that seem to dance across the surface of the vessel, giving them a striking and commanding presence.
Meanwhile, based in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Ruiji Aiba creates intricately crafted works that center on a fantastical world inhabited by ogres, animals, and yokai. Incorporating mechanical elements and highly detailed techniques, he produces imaginative sculptural figures inspired by traditional Japanese dolls. He also expresses the spirit of finely detailed crafts—much of which has been lost since the Meiji period—through ceramic netsuke and vessels, developing a unique practice in which fantasy and humor intertwine to form a richly imaginative world.
Although their artistic styles differ, both artists share a common foundation: they draw upon Japanese figures, animals, and folk narratives rooted in everyday cultural imagination, reinterpreting them through their own distinct sculptural languages. In this exhibition, the free-spirited vitality expressed in Ikeda’s works resonates with the fantastical inhabitants created by Aiba, generating a richly narrative space filled with life and imagination.
While both artists inherit the spirit of traditional ceramic practice, this exhibition presents a truly singular world in which their differing sensibilities intersect and resonate with one another. We warmly invite you to experience this unique encounter at Tosei Kyoto Gallery.

・入場券はお一人様につき1枚のみ有効です。ご同伴者がいらっしゃる場合は、それぞれに入場券が必要となります。

To ensure that as many visitors as possible may enjoy the exhibition comfortably and fairly, we kindly ask for your understanding regarding the following admission and purchasing procedures for the opening day.
《For Visitors Arriving on the Opening Day (Friday, July 3)》
• Visitors who arrive and line up in front of the gallery by 10:50 AM will be entered into a lottery for numbered admission tickets.
• Admission will begin at 11:00 AM in the order of the ticket numbers.
Please note that the numbered tickets are distributed by lottery to ensure fairness. Arriving earlier does not guarantee a lower admission number.
《Important Notes Regarding Numbered Admission Tickets》
• Each admission ticket is valid for one person only. Accompanying guests must each obtain their own ticket.
• Customers holding a numbered admission ticket may purchase one artwork per person only.
• If you are absent when your number is called, the next number will be admitted first.
• Lost tickets cannot be reissued, so please keep your ticket in a safe place.
• Tickets are non-transferable and resale is strictly prohibited.
• Holding a numbered admission ticket does not guarantee the availability of a specific artwork. As all works are limited, some pieces may sell out.
• Admission will generally be limited to one person at a time, with a maximum viewing time of 10 minutes per visitor.

• Visitors arriving after 10:50 AM will not be eligible for the lottery distribution of numbered admission tickets.

このたび、桃青京都ギャラリーでは信楽を拠点に作陶する澤克典の個展を開催いたします。
信楽の土味を生かした力強い造形と、軽やかな筆致による絵付け。その両方を自在に行き来する澤克典の作品には、伝統への敬意と現代的な感覚が息づいています。薪窯による信楽作品を中心に、弥七田織部、呼継など多彩な作品を通して、創造性に溢れる個性豊かな表情をご覧いただきます。
また、2025年に甲賀市無形文化財陶芸保持者に認定された父・澤清嗣氏の作品もあわせて展示いたします。世代を超えて受け継がれる信楽の美意識と、それぞれの感性が響き合う世界をぜひご高覧くださいますようご案内申し上げます。
Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of ceramic artist Katsunori Sawa, who lives and works in Shigaraki, one of Japan’s most celebrated pottery regions.
Katsunori Sawa’s work moves freely between the powerful forms born from the earthy character of Shigaraki clay and the light, expressive brushwork that animates his surfaces. Rooted in a deep respect for tradition yet infused with a contemporary sensibility, his ceramics reveal a distinctive and highly personal creative vision. This exhibition will feature a diverse selection of works, centered on wood-fired Shigaraki pieces alongside Yashichida Oribe and Yobitsugi works, each demonstrating the rich variety and vitality of his artistic practice.
Also on view will be selected works by his late father, Kiyotsugu Sawa, who was recognized in 2025 as a Holder of Intangible Cultural Property of Koka City. Through the works of both artists, visitors are invited to experience the enduring aesthetic spirit of Shigaraki and a dialogue of creativity that resonates across generations.
