このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、陶芸家・鈴木大弓の個展を開催いたします。
1981年、宮城県仙台市に生まれた鈴木大弓は、大学在学中に陶芸と出会い、作陶の道へと進みました。卒業後は韓国に渡り、聞慶や慶州で修業を重ねます。李朝陶磁への深い関心を原点に、2009年に信楽で独立。その後、2016年には三重県伊賀市へと拠点を移し、古陶磁の伝統に学びながら、自身の作陶を追求し続けています。
粉引、三島、刷毛目など、李朝陶磁に連なる作品から、信楽の土を用いた焼締まで、多彩な技法と表現を手がける鈴木。作品の魅力は、研ぎ澄まされた造形のなかに宿る、静謐で繊細な表情にあります。土や釉薬の特性を見極め、その持ち味を丁寧に引き出すことで生まれる、柔らかさと深みを湛えた佇まい。控えめでありながら細部にまで行き届いた造形と、素材が織りなす豊かな景色が、作品に静かな存在感をもたらしています。
古典の魅力に深く向き合い、その美意識を受け継ぎながらも、単なる踏襲にとどまることなく、確かな技術をもって自身の作風を追求する鈴木大弓。韓国での修業を通じて培った感性と、伊賀の風土のなかで磨かれた表現力を礎に、伝統と現代の感覚が響き合う独自の世界を築いています。次世代の伊賀陶芸を牽引する作家の一人として、その表現はさらなる広がりを見せています。
本展では、古陶磁への深いまなざしと、素材の魅力を引き出す確かな技から生まれた作品をご紹介いたします。

Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Hiroyumi Suzuki.
Born in 1981 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Suzuki discovered ceramics while at university and embarked on his path as a ceramic artist. After graduating, he traveled to Korea, where he trained in Mungyeong and Gyeongju. Deeply drawn to the beauty of Joseon dynasty ceramics, he established his independent practice in Shigaraki in 2009. In 2016, he relocated to Iga, Mie Prefecture, where he continues to pursue his own artistic expression while drawing inspiration from the traditions of classical ceramics.
Suzuki works across a diverse range of techniques and forms, from Korean-inspired styles such as kohiki, mishima, and hakeme to unglazed, wood-fired ceramics made with Shigaraki clay. His work is distinguished by refined forms and an understated, delicate beauty. Through a sensitive understanding of clay and glaze, he brings out the inherent qualities of each material, creating pieces that possess both softness and depth. The subtle interplay between carefully considered forms and the rich textures created by the materials lends his work a quiet yet compelling presence.
While deeply engaging with the beauty of classical ceramics and carrying forward their aesthetic sensibilities, Suzuki goes beyond mere tradition, continually exploring his own artistic language through technical mastery. The sensibility cultivated during his years of training in Korea, together with the expressive possibilities he has developed in the landscape of Iga, informs a distinctive body of work in which tradition and contemporary sensibilities resonate with one another. He is regarded as one of the leading figures shaping the next generation of Iga ceramics, and his artistic practice continues to evolve.
This exhibition presents works born from Suzuki’s profound engagement with classical ceramics and his exceptional ability to bring out the inherent beauty of his materials.

主張しすぎないけれど、ふと見渡したとき、そこにあると少し心が安らぐ。そんな「何か良いな」「なんだか好きだな」と感じていただけるような佇まいを目指して、作陶を続けています。土を選び、成型し、窯を焚くまでのすべての工程に真摯に向き合うこと。端正で凛とした空気感を纏う作品を目指しています。
【Artist Statement】
I continue to make pottery with the aim of creating pieces that do not demand too much attention, yet bring a sense of calm simply by being there when one happens to look around. I hope to create works that evoke a feeling of “there’s something nice about this” or “I somehow like this.”
I approach every stage of the process with sincerity, from selecting the clay and shaping the piece to firing the kiln. My goal is to create works that embody a refined, dignified presence.

このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、金沢を拠点に活動する陶芸家・竹村友里による個展を開催いたします。
愛知県立芸術大学で陶芸を学んだ竹村は、金沢卯辰山工芸工房での研修などを経て、独自の造形表現を追求してきました。国内外で精力的に作品を発表し、作品は金沢21世紀美術館、サンフランシスコ・アジア美術館、ミネアポリス美術館、ポートランド美術館など、国内外の主要美術館に収蔵されています。
竹村の作品を特徴づけるのは、有機的な曲線が織りなす柔らかなフォルムと、土の質感を活かした独創的な色彩表現です。流れるような曲線や、伸びやかに広がる造形は、まるで生命そのものが内側から形を生み出しているかのような躍動感を湛えています。土という素材が持つ素朴さと、洗練された現代的な造形感覚が融合したその作品は、器と彫刻の境界を越え、独自の世界観を築き上げています。
竹村の創作の根底には、一貫して「命の循環」というテーマがあります。命の誕生、大切な人との別れ、そして震災といった人生の大きな出来事に向き合う中で、生と死は切り離されたものではなく、自然の大きな巡りの中でつながっているという思いを深めてきました。土が自由に形を変え、作品として生まれる過程を生命の営みに重ね合わせ、日々の身体感覚や内面から湧き出る感情を、有機的な曲線へと昇華させています。その造形には、命の儚さと力強さ、そして人々の記憶や想いが静かに息づいています。
本展では、竹村が長年にわたり制作を続けてきた茶碗に加え、近年特に力を注いでいるオブジェ作品を中心に、多彩な作品をご紹介いたします。掌に収まる茶碗から、空間へと広がる彫刻的な造形まで、作品の形態は異なりながらも、その根底には生命への深い眼差しと、土という素材に対する真摯な探求が共通して流れています。
土から生まれ、形を成し、やがて自然へと還っていく──。生命の巡りに思いを馳せながら、記憶と感情を柔らかな曲線に託す竹村友里。その繊細でありながら力強い造形世界を、ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Yuri Takemura, a ceramic artist based in Kanazawa, Japan.
After studying ceramics at Aichi University of the Arts and further developing her practice at the Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo, Takemura has continued to pursue her own distinctive approach to ceramic expression. She has exhibited extensively both in Japan and internationally, and her works are held in the collections of major museums, including the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa; the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco; the Minneapolis Institute of Art; and the Portland Art Museum.
Takemura's work is distinguished by its soft, organic forms shaped by flowing curves and its distinctive use of color that brings out the natural qualities of clay. Her fluid lines and freely expanding forms convey a sense of vitality, as though life itself were giving rise to shape from within. Combining the earthy simplicity of clay with a refined contemporary sculptural sensibility, her works transcend the boundaries between functional vessels and sculpture, creating a unique artistic world.
At the heart of Takemura's practice lies a consistent theme: the cycle of life. Through profound personal experiences, including the birth of life, the loss of loved ones, and the devastation of earthquakes, she has developed a deep awareness that life and death are not separate, but are interconnected within the greater cycles of nature. She draws parallels between the process of clay freely taking shape and the unfolding of life itself, transforming everyday bodily sensations and emotions arising from within into organic, flowing curves. Her forms quietly embody the fragility and resilience of life, as well as the memories and emotions that connect us.
This exhibition presents a diverse selection of works, including the tea bowls Takemura has created over many years, alongside the sculptural objects that have become a particular focus of her recent practice. From tea bowls that rest in the palm of the hand to sculptural forms that expand into the surrounding space, her works vary in scale and form, yet all share a profound sensitivity to life and a sincere exploration of clay as a material.
Born from the earth, taking shape, and eventually returning to nature— Takemura reflects on the cycles of life, entrusting memories and emotions to her gentle, flowing curves. We warmly invite you to experience her artistic world, where delicacy and strength coexist in a deeply expressive sculptural language.

桃青京都ギャラリーでは、台湾出身の陶芸家・セン カイテイさんによる3年ぶり2回目の個展を開催いたします。
センさんの代表的な表現技法「記録紋」は、文字が存在しなかった古の時代に思いを馳せ、記憶を記録するという視点から生まれました。円という普遍的な形状に糸を巻きつけ、そこに文様を生み出すことで、作品そのものを記録の媒体として捉えています。焼成の過程では、糸の痕跡が窯の中で変化し、表層の一部が剥がれたり、予期しない表情が現れたりします。作家は、こうした変化や痕跡にも記録としての意味を見いだし、目に見える形と、そこに刻まれた時間や記憶との関係を問いかけます。作品に残された痕跡は、何かを記すこと、記憶を留めること、そして時の経過とともに変化することについて、見る者に思考を促します。
本展では、これまで取り組んできた円環シリーズに加え、新たなシリーズの作品、花器を思わせるオブジェ、器としての造形を備えた作品など、多様な展開をご紹介します。円環という形態を基軸とした表現から、形や用途の異なる作品へと広がることで、センさんの造形への探究と、土という素材に向き合う姿勢をより幅広くご覧いただける機会となります。
記憶と記録、時間の経過、そして焼成によって生まれる予測できない変化。センさんの作品に刻まれたさまざまな痕跡を通して、土という素材が持つ可能性と、その奥に広がる豊かな表現をご高覧ください。
Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present the second solo exhibition by Taiwanese ceramic artist Kaiting Chan, following her first exhibition at the gallery three years ago.
Chan’s signature technique, Kirokumon (記録紋), emerged from her contemplation of ancient times before the invention of writing and her interest in recording memories. By wrapping thread around the universal form of the circle to create intricate patterns, she transforms her works into vessels of record. During firing, the traces of thread shift and change within the kiln, causing parts of the surface to peel away and giving rise to unexpected expressions. Chan finds meaning in these transformations and traces, exploring the relationship between visible forms and the time and memories embedded within them. The marks left on her works invite viewers to reflect on the act of recording, the preservation of memory, and the changes that unfold over time.
This exhibition presents a diverse range of works, including her established circular series, new series, sculptural objects reminiscent of vases, and works that take the form of vessels. Expanding beyond the circular forms that have defined her practice, these works offer a broader perspective on Chan’s exploration of form and her engagement with clay as a material.
Memory and record, the passage of time, and the unpredictable transformations brought about by firing: through the traces embedded in Chan’s works, we invite you to discover the possibilities of clay and the rich expressions that emerge from its depths.

このたび、桃青京都ギャラリーでは、「六古窯 ― 継承と変革のかたち」と題したグループ展を開催いたします。
日本の陶芸文化を支えてきた六古窯。それぞれの土地に根差した土や技法、独自の美意識は、長い歴史のなかで受け継がれ、今日まで豊かな陶芸文化を育んできました。
本展では、そうした伝統を礎としながら、現代の感性と創造力によって新たな表現を切り拓く作家たちに焦点を当てます。1970年代以降生まれを中心とした、六古窯の次代を担う世代から、桃青京都ギャラリー独自の視点で選んだ作家たちの作品をご紹介いたします。
受け継がれてきたものを守るだけでなく、そこから何を見出し、どのように未来へつないでいくのか。伝統と革新が交差する作品を通して、日本陶芸の現在とこれからの可能性を感じていただければ幸いです。
