このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、金沢で九谷焼の技法をベースに自由な発想でかたちを探り続けてきた陶芸家・齋藤まゆの個展「記号 / Sign」を開催いたします。
本展では、テーマを意識したアートピース作品に加え、茶器や酒器などのうつわも展示いたします。作家は、自らの心と身体を通してかたちを生み出すことを大切にしており、「見る人の心に何が立ち上がるのか」をそっと問いかけます。
意味は最初からあるのではなく、感じ取る中で浮かび上がる——そんな静かな対話が生まれる場となれば幸いです。どうぞご高覧くださいませ。
Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present “Sign”, a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Mayu Saito, who has been exploring new forms with a free spirit while drawing upon the traditions of Kutani ware from Kanazawa.
In this exhibition, alongside art pieces created with a conscious focus on the theme, visitors will also find tea bowls, sake cups, and other functional vessels. Saito values the process of shaping clay through the sensitivity of her own mind and body, quietly asking: “What arises in the hearts of those who see these works?”
Meaning does not exist from the beginning—it emerges through the experience of feeling. We hope this exhibition becomes a place for such gentle dialogue to unfold.

[ 創作理念 ]
末枯葉のかたちや、枯れ巻いた葉脈の流れにインスピレーションを受けて制作しています。
一枚一枚の葉は時が経つにつれて変化し、それぞれ個性を帯びた姿を現します。
クルンと丸まったりスッと反ったりクシャリと縮んだり。
その佇まいはかつて陽光に照らされ風雨に晒された中でどのように感じあるいは何を思索したのか、
各々の辿った道程を、生き様を語っているように映ります。
その風貌に秘められた歴史や痕跡が視られ、
物語を受けとれたときに作品つくりの源泉が湧いてくるのです。

[ ARTIST STATEMENT ]
I am inspired by the unique lines and forms of withered and curled leaves that nature has created.
Every single leaf transforms with a characteristic as time passes.
I imagine that their appearance tells an own narrative of how/what they once felt and thought in the sunlight and rain.
It is so fascinating and motivates me to make pieces.
