このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、愛知県豊田市を拠点に活動する陶芸家・鈴木五郎による個展を開催いたします。
16歳で作陶を始めた鈴木は、桃山陶芸の精神を深く探求しながらも、模倣にとどまらない独創的な表現を生み出してきました。アメリカ滞在を機に陶芸を美術として捉える視点を得たことも、自由な発想の制作へとつながっています。「人のやらないことをやる」という姿勢のもと、伝統と革新を往還する独自の世界を築いてきました。
鈴木の制作において重要なのは、土が持つ「材質感」です。これまでに何百種類もの土を集め、黄瀬戸、志野、織部など多様な焼物を手がけながら、それぞれの土が持つ個性を最大限に引き出すことを追求してきました。土と向き合い、遊び、試行錯誤を重ねながら生まれる自由で力強い造形は、長年にわたる制作の積み重ねによって培われたものです。
本展では、茶碗や土瓶、水指といった器作品に加え、色絵馬や織部リヤカーなど、鈴木五郎ならではのユーモアと発想に満ちた作品を展示いたします。異なる焼成や釉薬を組み合わせて生まれた「五利部茶碗」をはじめ、桃山陶の精神を背景にしながらも、既存の枠にとらわれない作品群をご紹介いたします。
茶碗からオブジェまで、新作を含む多彩な作品を通して、現在の鈴木五郎の制作世界をご覧いただける機会となります。

Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Goro Suzuki, who is based in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.
Suzuki began working with clay at the age of sixteen. While deeply exploring the spirit of Momoyama-period ceramics, he has developed original expressions that go far beyond mere imitation. His time in the United States provided him with a perspective that views ceramics as fine art, which has further inspired his free and imaginative approach to creation. Guided by the principle of “doing what others do not,” Suzuki has built a unique world that navigates between tradition and innovation.
A central focus of Suzuki’s work is the inherent “materiality” of clay. Over the years, he has collected hundreds of different types of clay and worked with a wide range of wares, including Kiseto, Shino, and Oribe, always striving to bring out the distinctive character of each material. The bold and liberating forms that emerge from his dialogue with clay are the result of years of experimentation, play, and continual refinement.
This exhibition will feature not only functional wares such as tea bowls, tokkuri (sake flasks), and mizusashi (water jars), but also playful and inventive pieces unique to Suzuki, including polychrome horse figurines and Oribe-style rickshaws. Highlights include the Goribe Chawan, a tea bowl series created by combining diverse firing techniques and glazes. While rooted in the spirit of Momoyama ceramics, these works transcend conventional boundaries to reveal Suzuki’s imaginative vision.
From tea bowls to sculptural objects, this exhibition offers a comprehensive view of Suzuki’s current creative world. We invite you to experience the inventive forms and lively dialogue with clay that continue to define Goro Suzuki’s practice.
【作家ステートメント】
制作する上で重要なのは材質感である。
今までに何百種類もの土を集めた。そして何十種類もの焼物(黄瀬戸､志野、織部、、、)を作った。
それぞれ個性があるがそれぞれの材質感を引き出す努力をした。そして土と遊ぶ事を楽しんできた。自分なりの考えで形を作り出していく。気がつけばこんな事を70年近く繰り返してきた。
Artist Statement
What is most important in my practice is the sense of material.
Over the years, I have gathered hundreds of different types of clay and created works in dozens of ceramic styles—such as Kiseto, Shino, and Oribe. Each has its own character, and I have continually sought to bring out the unique qualities of each material. I have always enjoyed playing with clay.
I shape forms according to my own sensibility, and before I knew it, I have been repeating this process for nearly seventy years.

桃青京都ギャラリーでは、毎年秋に「茶碗展」を開催してまいりましたが、毎回多くのお客様よりご好評をいただいており、そのご好評を受け、この春にも開催いたします。
本展では、織部や焼締などの伝統的なスタイルから現代アートの要素を取り入れた斬新な茶碗まで、さまざまな作品を通して、作家それぞれの個性や美意識が鑑賞者の五感に直接訴えかけます。加えて、一部の作家は春を意識した作品を出品しており、季節の気配を感じられる点も本展の見どころのひとつです。
春の京都にて、茶碗の新たな魅力に出会うひと時をぜひお楽しみください。
At Tosei Kyoto Gallery, we have been holding our Chawan (Tea Bowl) Exhibition each autumn in recent years. Thanks to the warm reception it has received, we are pleased to present the exhibition again this spring.
This exhibition features a wide range of works—from traditional styles such as Oribe and Yakishime to more innovative tea bowls incorporating elements of contemporary art. Through these diverse pieces, each artist’s individuality and aesthetic sensibility come vividly to life, engaging the viewer’s senses directly. In addition, some artists have created works inspired by the spirit of spring, offering a subtle sense of the season as one of the highlights of the exhibition.
We warmly invite you to enjoy a moment of discovering new aspects of the tea bowl’s charm in Kyoto this spring.

このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、伊賀を拠点に活動する陶芸家・谷本貴による個展を開催いたします。
谷本は、古伊賀の復興を目指した祖父・谷本光生、そして絵画的要素を取り入れながら現代伊賀の表現を切り拓いた父・谷本景の系譜を受け継ぎつつ、自身の感覚によって伊賀焼を再解釈してきました。伝統と品格を踏まえながらも、現代的な造形感覚と自由な発想によって、新たな伊賀の魅力を提示しています。
作品には、薪窯で幾度も焼き重ねることで生まれる伊賀特有の焦げや、複雑に重なり合う土肌の豊かな表情が息づいています。色彩に頼ることなく、土と炎の作用によって奥行きある景色を立ち上げるその表現は、力強さと軽やかさをあわせ持ち、見る者に新鮮な印象を与えます。
谷本は、「陶器にもジャズの即興のような自由さがあってよい」と語ります。計画通りにはいかない焼成や、不完全さの中に宿る美を受け止めながら、遊び心を織り込み独自の造形へと昇華しています。
その根底には、古伊賀が持つ「不足の美」への共感があります。アシンメトリーで儚く、完全ではないがゆえに惹きつけられる美を現代の感覚で捉え直し、伝統を継承しながらも新たな表現へと展開しています。
本展では、伊賀焼の伝統を引き継ぎながら独自の解釈によって進化させた茶碗、花器、酒器をはじめ、谷本の抽象的な造形感覚がより色濃く表れたオブジェ作品までを一堂に展観いたします。さらに、父・谷本景の作品もあわせて数点ご紹介し、伊賀という土地に連なる表現の系譜と、その先にひらかれる新たな可能性をあわせてご覧いただける機会となります。
伝統を深く知るからこそ生まれる自由な逸脱。土と炎が織りなす伊賀の古典に、現代の感覚と即興性を響かせる谷本貴の世界を、ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。

このたび桃青京都ギャラリーでは、信楽を拠点に活動する陶芸家・津守愛香（つもり あいこ）による個展を開催いたします。
津守は、日常の中のふとした内面的なイメージを出発点に制作を行い心象を具象化した作品を次々に発表する陶芸家です。形や色彩は優しい佇まいを保ちながら見る者それぞれの感覚や記憶を呼び起こす余白を備えており、陶という素材を通して個人的な感覚を普遍的な風景へと誘います。
また、幼少期に部屋にあった人形への怖さを原体験に、「顔のある」存在に対する不思議さや複雑さを手がかりとして制作を続けてきました。最近では、ご自身の子どもが描いた絵に影響を受けた作品にも取り組んでおり、一貫してどこか心を感じさせる存在感を宿しています。
本展では、人物や動物のぬいぐるみをモチーフとした新作を中心に展示いたします。今まで以上に豊かな表情を湛えた作品群から、作家の新たな展開をご覧いただけます。それらの作品は、陶芸と絵画の境界を軽やかに行き来しながら、作家の内面に広がる情景を静かに映し出しています。
内面のイメージから立ち上がるかたちと、どこか心を宿したような存在感。陶という素材を通して、静かに語りかけてくる津守愛香の世界を、ぜひこの機会にご高覧ください。
Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Aico Tsumori, a ceramic artist based in Shigaraki.
Tsumori is a ceramic artist who creates works based on her inner images from everyday life, consistently presenting pieces that give concrete form to these mental impressions. While her forms and colors maintain a gentle presence, they also incorporate a sense of space that evokes the viewer’s individual senses and memories, using the medium of clay to transform personal sensations into universal landscapes.
Furthermore, drawing on her childhood fear of the dolls in her room as a formative experience, she has continued to create works that explore the mystery and complexity of “facial” beings. Recently, she has also been working on pieces inspired by drawings created by her own children, and her work consistently possesses a presence that evokes a sense of the heart.
This exhibition will feature primarily new works inspired by stuffed animals and human figures. Through this collection of works, which possess even richer expressions than before, you can witness a new direction in the artist’s practice. These pieces gracefully traverse the boundary between ceramics and painting, quietly reflecting the inner landscapes that unfold within the artist.
Shapes that emerge from inner imagery and a presence that seems to harbor a soul. We invite you to take this opportunity to experience the world of Aico Tsumori, which speaks quietly to us through the medium of ceramics.

『 顔と目と。』
顔を作るとき最初に目を決める。
目を入れると作品に感情が生まれ、
ストーリーは進んでいく。
娘の絵を立体にする「こどもの絵のやきものシリーズ」で
キラキラの目を作るようになってからは
目の表現が増えてより自由なものを作れるようになった。
情緒的ななにかが表現できれば良いなと思う。

【Artist Statement】
“Face and Eye and.”
When I create a face, I start by shaping the eyes.
Once the eyes are in place, emotion comes to life in the piece,
and the story begins to unfold.
Since I started creating sparkling eyes for “Children’s Art Pottery Series” which brings my daughter’s drawings to life in three dimensions my range of eye expressions has expanded, allowing me to create works with greater freedom.
I hope to create something emotional through my art.

私の作品は、器や造形物といった陶芸のかたちが、あたかも生物が進化していくように変化するプロセスをテーマにしています。
その進化を導くものとして、環境の影響など「自然選択」にたとえられる要素を意識しています。
器では実用性を制約として重視し、造形作品では文化や信仰が選択の基準となってきました。
そこに、新しい変化を生み出すため、自分自身を世代を映す一つのサンプルとして、多様な文化的要素（ミーム）を重ね合わせて
います。
陶芸の伝統的なDNAから、サブカルチャーの影響、さらには生物学の断片など自身の構成要素を取り込みながら、未来へとつながる
新しい形態を探っています。

私の制作にあたっての主眼は「装飾」で、上絵や下絵の技法で模様を描くもの、ひも作りによるテクスチャ一で立体的に模様を成すもの、そのニつを合わせるという三種の作品を軸に制作しています。異なる装飾方法によって作品が変貌し、存在感を增す可能性に着目しています。
粘土で作る形は、立体的で不規則なキャンバスであると捉えています。その表面に緻密な独自のデザインを施すことで、曼荼羅のような宇宙観へつながることを意図しています。
模様を描く作品には、九谷焼特有の色絵素材(上絵の具、赤、黑、金箔、銀箔、金液など) を使い、繰り返し焼成していくことで全体のデザインを完成させます。形の上に模様を描きながら、そこに広く深い小宇宙が現れるように、細かく複雑なデザインで覆っていきます。
ひも作りや上絵による装飾技法を用いることによって、自然物の持つ美しさと神秘、たとえばハチの巣や木の葉の葉脈に宿るように感じられる精神性を、作品の小宇宙に反映させたいという思いを持って制作しています。
