Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present Autumn Landscapes in Clay, a group exhibition celebrating the diverse expressions of Japanese ceramics. Clay reveals an extraordinary range of textures and colors through its interaction with fire and glaze.Scorch marks and kiln effects created by flames, natural glazes formed by accumulated ash, and the flowing patterns and subtle variations of glazes—all come together to create a unique "landscape" on the surface of each work. This exhibition brings together ceramic works from various traditions, including Bizen, Iga, Shigaraki, and Shino, transcending regional and technical boundaries to explore the rich textures of clay and the expressive beauty created through firing. Each work reveals its own distinctive landscape, born from the interplay between the artist's intention and the unpredictable nature of fire. As autumn deepens in Kyoto, we warmly invite you to discover and appreciate the unique beauty found in each of these ceramic works.
