このたび桃⻘京都ギャラリーでは、新宮さやかによる個展を開催いたします。
新宮は、⽩から⿊のグレートーンの⾊によって、⽣きて、やがて死へと向かうという普遍的な⽣命の時間やその移ろいを、花や植物といった⾝近な⽣き物のかたちを借りて表現しています。
満開の華やかさよりも、終わりへと向かう過程にある姿やまなざしに⼼を惹かれるという新宮の作品は、今にも動き出しそうな気配をまとい、「⽣きているもの」としての存在感を⼤切にしています。
作品に⽤いられるのは、⿊い顔料を混ぜた半磁⼟で、⾊数を抑えた表現には、⽩⿊写真のように、⾒る⼈それぞれの記憶や時間を呼び起こしたいという思いが込められています。
花弁や花芯はひとつひとつ丁寧に⼿で成形され、特に針状の花芯部分は、多数の⼩さな⼟のパーツを貼り重ねて制作されます。⾵に揺れるようにうねるその姿は、⿊く乾いた⾊合いとは対照的に、内側からあふれる強い⽣命⼒を感じさせます。
⼀輪の花が芽吹き、蕾をつけ、咲き、やがて枯れて乾いていくまでの過程を⾒つめることは、⼈の⼈⽣の在り⽅を重ね合わせる⾏為でもあります。命の終わりは避けることはできませんが、同時に次の命へとつながっていくものでもあります。新宮は、⽬に⾒えない脈動する⽣命のエネルギーを、⼟の焼成を通して形にしようと制作を続けています。
本展では、これまで発表してきた花をモチーフとした繊細で緻密な作品に加え、新たな試みとして壺をテーマにした新作も展⽰いたします。

Tosei Kyoto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Sayaka Shingu.
Shingu’s work explores the universal passage of life—living, and inevitably moving toward death—through gradations of gray ranging from white to black. Using familiar forms such as flowers and plants, she gives shape to time, transience, and the quiet transformations inherent in all living things.
Rather than focusing on the splendor of full bloom, Shingu is drawn to moments along the path toward an ending—the subtle states of decline and the gaze that accompanies them. Her works possess an almost animate presence, as if they might begin to move at any moment, emphasizing their existence as “living beings.”
Her sculptures are made from a semi-porcelain clay mixed with black pigment. By limiting the range of colors, Shingu seeks—much like black-and-white photography—to evoke the memories and personal sense of time held by each viewer.
Each petal and flower core is carefully formed by hand. The needle-like stamens, in particular, are constructed by layering numerous small clay elements one by one. Though their dark, dry tones suggest stillness, their undulating forms—reminiscent of flowers swaying in the wind—convey a powerful vitality rising from within.
To observe a single flower as it sprouts, forms a bud, blooms, and eventually withers and dries is also to reflect upon the course of a human life. While the end of life is unavoidable, it is at the same time something that leads into new life. Through the firing of clay, Shingu continues her practice in an attempt to give form to the unseen, pulsating energy of life.
In this exhibition, alongside the delicate and intricately crafted floral works she has presented to date, Shingu will also unveil new works centered on the theme of the vessel (tsubo) as a fresh direction in her practice.
